Island City
Island City- Cork’s Urban Sculpture Trail – is a unique cultural trail of five public artworks throughout Cork City centre for locals and visitors to enjoy. The trail, which will be completed in December 2023, animates the city and illuminates our unique heritage in an arresting, intriguing and playful way. The temporary artworks are located on Carey’s Lane, the Exchange Building on Princes Street, Cook Street, and Cornmarket Street. The next installation will be at Triskel.
Four of the sculptures were commissioned after a competitive process, supported by the National Sculpture Factory, and the fifth was chosen through an open call process. A Cork City Council project funded by Fáilte Ireland under the Urban Animation Scheme to the tune of €670,000, this is the biggest ever single investment in public art in Cork City.
